Adult Learn to Row
Learn to Row at Lincoln Park Boat Club!
Classes run every month (April to September) at both the Lincoln Park Boat House and Park 571 boathouse.
This nine-session class is an introduction to the sport of rowing. This class requires no prior rowing experience and will put you on the path of becoming a skilled rower.
Classes will focus on the fundamentals of rowing, including: the basic rowing stroke, water safety, a facility orientation, and equipment handling. Students will receive instruction in both methods of rowing: sweep (one oar) and sculling (two oars).
Upon completion of the class, students will have the option to continue rowing through our Novice Rowing Team. Students may also join Lincoln Park Boat Club for the remainder of the year at a discounted rate. Membership at Lincoln Park Boat Club grants you access to the club’s equipment so you may continue rowing on your own.
These programs are for adults (18+) only. For introductory courses for aspiring youth rowers, check out our middle school and high school teams.
Get Fit to Row
This program is for people completely new to rowing and for experienced rowers who are looking to get back in shape after time away from the sport. Get in shape during the winter months, so that you’ll be ready to get out on the water once the ice has melted!
Our land-based program focuses on developing the core physical attributes of good rowing – strength, endurance, flexibility and stability. All of our sessions are led by experienced rowers and coaches who will be able to give you one on one guidance and feedback throughout. If you are new to the sport of rowing, this is the ideal introduction for you to learn the fundamentals of rowing technique. If you have rowed before, this is a great way to get back into the sport before joining us on the water in the spring.
Get Fit to Row is offered at Park 571 and the Lincoln Park Boat House from January - March.
